I confess that I read many of my emails incompletely or far too quickly for my own good or safety. I saw one yesterday whose subject line said "Last Chance to Wish the First Family Happy Holidays" and for whatever strange reason "First Family" translated in my head to "Furst Family." Being a fan of Stephen Furst from way back when, I shot out a just-in-time electronic greeting to Mr. Furst and Lorraine, thinking to myself that it was a nice gesture for someone to send out an email encouraging us to take the time to remember television and movie personalities from Christmases-Past. Not until I was going through my email again today, a day much less hectic than those leading up to it, did I realize what I had done. Any warm fuzzies accruing to Mr. and Mrs. Furst notwithstanding, I made a terrible mistake by not sending greetings to the President and family prior to Christmas Day (or do the Obamas refer to it as Holiday Day? Whatever.). So, First Family of the U.S., Holiday Greetings! I hope this reaches the White House before you return from your Hawaiian vacation. I would hate for you to think I do not care. And if you like this Holiday Greeting, you can keep it. For next year. I have a feeling you are going to need it.
